I guess flowers are hardly new - apparently the Egyptians gave flowers as gifts to lovers and to gods no less. But over the last year or so we've noticed a bit of a revolution in flower giving with the advent of flowers that come in a box that fit through your letterbox. This has taken on a sudden new significance through COVID lockdowns with florists being forced to shut.
Buying flowers online has always seemed like a bit of a leap of faith to me - especially ones that come packed in a box that fits through your letterbox. However, just before Christmas I thought I'd give it a go and ordered a box from Bloom & Wild for my wife to arrive in the new year to brighten up those dark days after Christmas when you have to go back to work.
The box arrived and the flowers looked a little bit limp. The accompanying leaflet said this was normal and that they would perk up the next day. Low and behold the next day they looked as fresh as daisies - freshly picked ones at that.
I ordered my bunch when they were having a sale - I guess they don't sell that many flowers in the first week of the new year! I was really pleased with them value-for-money wise, but little did I know just what great value they would be....
Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of the full bunch in all their glory on that first day. The pictures on this page are of that same bunch over 3 weeks later! After 21 days some of the foliage was looking a little bit sad so I rearranged the bunch today. As you can see they still make a beautiful display.
All in all they have proved a real success. They have brightened up the house for, literally, weeks and have been a big win with my wife. So I have no hesitation in recommending them as our gift of the month.
